Our philosophy is ' To try is to believe – YOU CAN DO IT! '.
Our motto is 'To have lots of fun while learning in a happy, loving atmosphere allowing children to develop their true potential'.

We aim to give each child the opportunity to develop and learn through free play and structured learning activities with an emphasis on the arts. These cultural activities we believe help us to develop the use of language and expression, imagination and creativity, the understanding of concepts, social awareness, including multicultural awareness, team skills, co-operation and self esteem.

We aim to create an atmosphere of love and security where children are free to explore and to be creative. We believe children have absorbent minds with natural curiosity and enthusiasm which we aim to encourage and develop.

We seek to fulfil the needs of each child in their social, emotional, physical, intellectual and educational development within a caring and safe environment. We also encouraging them to recognise and respect others in the wider community.

We endeavour to meet the needs and aspirations of parents and carers with regard to their children.

We recognise the importance of maintaining a high calibre of staff, encouraging every member of staff to develop continuously and professionally.

The importance of the Early Years is in a child's general development which cannot be over emphasised. Any experience including play which caters for the needs of children before they reach statuary school age, establishes the foundations of future learning across all areas of human experience.

A Unique Child - Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be reliant, capable, confident and self-assured.

Positive Relationships- Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person

Enabling Environment - The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning

Learning and Development - Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of learning and development are equally important and interconnected.

EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE

The six areas of learning and development which will be used to plan and assess activities will be based on a child's individual development and needs

. Personal Social and Emotional Development
. Communication Language and Literacy
. Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
. Knowledge and Understanding of the World
. Physical Development
. Creative Development

COMMUNICATION - We are a multi cultural nursery which has a happy, and homely atmosphere with friendly welcoming staff. Communication is important to us from baby sign to adult sign language. We have a two way information system with welcoming packs, and assessment records, which parents are encouraged to participate and be involved with along side the staff.

RESPECTING DIVERSITY - Everybody is valued and welcomed to Mulberry Kindergarten. Information about culture, differences, languages, and family situations are addressed and dealt with before the children's start date. The needs of the individual child are met through planning, and use of the environment and the culture of the setting.

LEARNING TOGETHER - Parents views and thoughts of learning are important to us and can help to extend children learning. Parents review their children's development records and progress records regularly. For those birth to two years, their records are reviewed on a monthly basis, and two onwards once a term. Parent workshops are held to encourage link learning i.e. reading.

Qualified Nursery Practitioners will take care of your child according to statutory ratios under the Children’s Act, which came into force on 14th October 1991. However, we try to have more staff on duty than the minimum requirements as it enables the staff to spend more time with the children individually.

We recognise it is of great importance that we should employ well qualified experienced staff in order to maintain a high standard of childcare. All of our staff have been checked by the Criminal Records Bureau and hold the appropriate CRB certificate and references are thoroughly checked.
